Frequently Asked Questions
-
Yes. Every Piper Travel Design journey is created individually, with careful attention to interests, pace, style, and the type of experiences that feel most meaningful to you.
Each one is original and unique, drawing on our privileged global relationships, destination expertise, and access to exceptional experiences around the world.

AI can generate information. It cannot design truly meaningful travel. It only draws possible scenarios from what is already existing online.
We get to know you in a way technology never will — how you like to move through the world, what excites you, what restores you, and the kinds of experiences that stay with you long after you return home. We ask thoughtful questions and weave those nuances into every aspect of your journey - a creative aspect catered to each individual that AI cannot mimic on a deeply personal level.
AI won’t know which suite has the most extraordinary view at sunset, the quiet guide who transforms a destination through storytelling, or the hidden lodge reachable only by private boat. It cannot leverage long-standing relationships with hotel management, expedition leaders, expert guides, and trusted local partners around the world. And if something unexpected arises while you’re traveling, it certainly cannot advocate for you in real time.
-
Piper Travel Design directly supports conservation and community initiatives, creating journeys that honor local cultures, protect natural environments, and leave a positive impact long after the journey ends. We bring this to life by providing you with the opportunity for more intentional engagement with the destinations we visit.
-
Yes. Every trip we plan is thoughtfully customized from the ground up and supported from the moment we begin planning until after you return home.
Our clients invest in an elevated, highly personalized travel experience shaped by deep destination knowledge, trusted global relationships, seamless logistics, and exceptional service. Because of the significant time, expertise, and coordination involved, we charge a non-refundable trip design and management fee that reflects the scope and complexity of the journey.
-
In order to provide the level of seamless service and oversight we’re known for, we manage the full journey, in conjunction with our trusted global partners. Thus, we do not work with elements booked with points.
Fragmented bookings — including independently booked hotels, flights, or experiences — can limit our ability to coordinate logistics, advocate on your behalf, provide VIP recognition, and ensure the experience flows smoothly from beginning to end.
Our approach is holistic and highly personalized, allowing us to thoughtfully orchestrate every aspect of the journey and provide the level of care and continuity our clients expect.
-
We present your journey as a carefully curated whole rather than as individually itemized components.
Much like a fine dining experience, what you are investing in is not simply the sum of individual elements, but the expertise, relationships, orchestration, access, and intentional design behind the experience itself. In many cases, our partners and suppliers also work with contracted rates and packaged pricing structures that are not broken down individually.
-
We strongly recommend travel insurance for every journey. It protects your investment and provides valuable support before and during travel in the event of unexpected disruptions, cancellations, medical concerns, or delays.
We guide our clients through appropriate coverage options and can assist in arranging a policy that best fits the nature of the trip. If you choose to decline coverage, we do require a signed waiver acknowledging that decision.
-
For the best availability, pacing, and access to exceptional accommodations and experiences, we recommend beginning the planning process approximately 6–9 months in advance.
Certain destinations and highly specialized journeys — including safari, expedition cruises, holiday season travel, and remote or conservation-focused experiences — often require 9–12 months or more of lead time.
Last-minute travel may still be possible depending on the destination and timing, though an additional priority planning fee may apply for departures within 60 days.
-
Every journey is unique, and investment levels vary significantly depending on destination, season, style of travel, pace, accommodations, and level of exclusivity.
Our clients are typically seeking deeply customized, high-touch travel experiences where exceptional service, seamless logistics, expert guiding, and meaningful access take priority over transactional travel planning.
For fully customized journeys, most trips begin at approximately $1,000-$3,000+ per person, per day.
-
Yes. We assist our clients with business and first-class air arrangements as part of the overall travel experience. Air coordination and ticketing is handled as a professional service and carries a separate air management fee.
